Experienced Horticulturist / Maintenance Gardener

Job Title: Experienced Horticulturist / Maintenance Gardener

Holiday: Base 31 days - including bank holidays, birthday day and 24th / 31st of December. Loyalty scheme increases holiday allowance with years of service.

Pay grade: £26,000-£32,000 DOE

Reporting Relationships: Reporting to – Aftercare (Maintenance) Manager

Job Summary:

We are looking for a passionate, personable and knowledgeable horticulturalist to join our team which is based in NW3 (Primrose Hill). The role will require a real drive and desire to deliver exceptional quality garden services and perfect finish to high-end residential properties. A hands-on and joyful attitude is required to fit into the company culture as well as a thirst for knowledge and to continue progressing within the role.

About LDN Horticulture:

We are a diverse team of passionate horticulturalists who love what we do. LDN Horticulture is first and foremost a garden care and maintenance business. We periodically carry out garden makeover projects and soft landscaping work and regularly develop and evolve our clients' gardens to successfully improve the spaces we manage, with an emphasis on creating beautiful and biodiverse outdoor sanctuaries. Both LDN Horticulture and our sister design company Harry Holding Studio, were founded by Harry Holding in 2016 and share the same core values and ethos. We share a close working relationship with, HHS, who works on an array of exciting projects across London and further afield. We have a wonderful portfolio of high-end clients who we know well and who respect and treasure the work we do.

We would like to welcome to our team an experienced and enthusiastic individual who has the same tenacious motivation to get stuck into the wonderful field of nurturing green spaces. The person should continuously improve and grow their knowledge within the field, constantly keeping on top of the most updated horticultural practices and techniques. The right candidate will be properly recognised and rewarded for their valuable contribution.

The role:
- Full-time employment

- General working hours between 7:30am - 4:30pm 

- Highly competitive salary with prospects of bonuses

- Garden maintenance (all associated jobs and roles) - multiple gardens per day

- Garden makeover and landscaping (soft landscaping and planting, minor hard landscaping such as turfing, soil works and levelling, steel edge installation, sleeper pathways etc

- Monitoring of irrigation systems & water features

The successful applicant must:

- Have a full and clean UK driving licence

- Have a strong horticultural knowledge and plant base

- Have horticultural qualification(s) or proven record of professional horticultural experience

- Be a people person - personable, well mannered and presentable. This is particularly important as we deal with high-end clients

- Be proactive and able to work on their own initiative, both in a team and alone

- Be flexible with work hours

- Be focused, professional, hard-working and swift when on the job

- Have excellent time management skills

- Tidy and considerate (side access is not always available so we often go through people’s homes)

- Confident with plant health and cross-contamination measures

- Confident with all areas of shaping and pruning (with plant health and correct horticultural practice as the main priority)

- Understanding of common pests and diseases with preventative and treatment methods being eco-friendly (we are environmentally conscious in everything we do, this is at the core of our ethos)

- A good knowledge of tools and how to use them effectively

- An appreciation and understanding of garden design

Personal Management:
- You are expected to arrive promptly for work and will need to be able to reliably commute to NW3 for 7:30 am each day.
